Moto X phone customisation options and images leaked
Motorola yesterday placed Moto X ads in all of the major US newspapers promising "the first smartphone that you can design yourself," but it remained a mystery exactly which elements you could personalise.
Now ABC News believes it has the answer. According to its sources, Moto X customers will be able to specify the colour of their device as well as adding an engraving to the back cover.
This will work through an online system, which will enable you to choose from a palette of different colours. Customers can specify which to use for the back case, and another for the phones trim.
In a separate report, images of the Moto Xs interchangeable back covers have leaked online through French website Nowhere Else.
Besides being able to have a name or message engraved onto the back cover, youll also be able to send in a personal picture and have it added as your default wallpaper out of the box.
The report confirmed that users wont be able to customise the internals of the phone (which was always a fanciful idea), and confirmed that it would be a "mid-range" phone.
This would appear to support the Moto X specs that were leaked last month. Apparently the phone will feature such mid-range components as a 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core CPU and a 10-megapixel camera.
Instead, the biggest hardware advances will come in the shape of the Moto Xs advanced sensor usage. Its suggested that users will be able to flick the phone to launch the camera app, and that the phone will be intelligent enough to know when youre driving, and will kick in the speakerphone function accordingly.
Googles recent work in voice recognition is also set to manifest itself in the Moto X.
